Prof George Odera-Outa(PhD) is a ‘multi-discipline’ scholar (Literary Studies; Policy Communication and International Law). Immediately before this appointment I was based at the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation, University of Nairobi. I have also served in various advisory and consulting capacities mainly under UNDP’s recruitment modalities; notably: at Kenya’s Ministry of National Planning; Office of the Prime Minister; Ministry of Trade and Industry; African Union Commission Headquarters(Addis Ababa) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference Secretariat(SBEC 2018) and theTokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI, 2016). I am also a research associate of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI)- Africa Centre, Nairobi. I am a Law graduate of the University of London (UK) and the University of California-Hastings (USA). Previously a ‘Tothil Prestige Scholar’ at the University of the Witwatersrand, (South Africa). I have taught and examined a wide range of courses at the University of Nairobi since 1988 and has been the recipient of various awards, among them, the St Andrews (UK) Prize for the Environment(2001) and the Governance in East Africa Research Awards(1993). Has been an international consulting editor for a number of UNDP publications, including those of the Government of Kenya, since 2003. I have consulted for a number of blue chip companies and international organizations operating in Kenya and Africa at large. |
